Cloudera was founded in 2008 and often uses the services of the open source software infrastructure Hadoop when enterprises and large organizations are looking to solve tricky big data problems. In the Hadoop ecosystem, Cloudera is the largest and most famous company. In October 2018, Cloudera and Hortonworks, both open source platforms, announced that they had merged at a price of $5.2 billion.
